Homage to the Bees

As I feel the autumnal shift in the air, I find myself lingering a little bit longer in my garden. Yes there are weeds to pull and vegetables to harvest, but I find myself pausing instead, taking a few extra moments to etch the sights, sounds and smells of the last bits of summer into my psyche. The bees must feel the shift in the air as well, as I watch one settle on the edge of a stalk of Blue Vervain. It seems that the bees are gathering pollen at a frenzied pace, taking the pollen back to their hives and homes, creating that mythical and magical liquid that we call honey. We pay homage to the bees, knowing that this little magnificent creature is vital and necessary to flower pollination and food production. And here at the Soap Garden we also love to celebrate the honey!

Honey has been used medicinally for thousands of years. It is known for its antibacterial and antiseptic qualities. We infuse honey into several of our soaps.

Our Nubian Goat's Milk Soap combines the ultimate recipe for skin conditioning. The bottom layer is rich goats milk, know for its nourishment and gentle cleansing. The top layer contains glycerin and our beloved honey.

Additionally we love the "Honeycombs" pollen bar, where we have taken the honey homage one step further and incorporated the healing properties of the bee pollen itself.

Please feel free to comment and share your love for honey and bees as well! We would love to hear your thoughts and ideas of how to utilize this amazing gift from nature.
